Correction of breast asymmetry

Asymmetry is the condition when one breast is bigger than the other one. It is normal for any woman to have size differences between her two breasts, although in asymmetry the difference is significant and easily distinct, causing aesthetic and psychological problems as well as dressing issues.

Correction of breast asymmetry is a surgical procedure. The plastic surgeon will examine the area, evaluate the grade of asymmetry and suggest the appropriate technique to correct it. This may involve surgery to one side or to both breasts and the procedures used are breast augmentation with different silicone implants to achieve size symmetry, or breast reduction on one or both breasts to equalize their volume.

The procedure is done under sedation or light general anesthesia, on an outpatient basis or requires a single night in hospital and postoperatively the patient will have to weal a surgical garment (bra) for few weeks.
